Friend Kristin Andreassen is up in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for Best Children’s Song for her tune “Crayola Doesn’t Make A Color For Your Eyes”. I think it’s marvelous. It’s now one of my favorite songs, STARTLINGLY GOOD, enough that hearing it and a small smattering of others, spurred me to buy her album “Kiss Me Hello”, which I think is now one of my top 5 folk albums of all-time. It’s credited as country, but I think it falls into jazz and folk as well. Did I mention Kristin is also a professional clog dancer?

Follow the link jlsc.com/vote to listen to the song, and vote for yourself. You can vote once a day per e-mail address up to April 6th, so if you like it keep coming back and helping her out.

Kristin’s voice has hypnotized me, and I really think this is one of the best albums of last year, and the fact that it’s indie is just that much more cooler. Hear more at myspace.com/kristinandreassen, but really vote in the contest too. You can also hear Kristin on tour right now playing rhythm guitarist with all-girl and super-adorable bluegrass sensation Uncle Earl, in promotion of their new kick-ass album Waterloo, Tennessee. Recorded in Gallatin, produced by John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin. Yeah, they got some cool shit together.

Hope y’all enjoy, buy the album, buy Uncle Earl’s new album, and Happy Spring. Hi, KC.
