Friend and fabulous musician Kristin Andreassen has won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for Best Children’s song for her tune “Crayola Doesn’t Make A Color For Your Eyes”. I blogged before, I’m a big fan of not only this tune, but her entire album “Kiss Me Hello”, which you should totally buy because it’s slid up to one of my top 5 favorite folk albums of all-time…so far. It’s an indie release, so buy one or two and help her out.

Additionally, Uncle Earl (of which Kristin and a trio of lovely women are a part of) have a new record out, “Waterloo, Tennessee”. Buy it in stores now, on Rounder Records, or listen to it and friend them at myspace.com/uncleearl. They’re peachy.

Congrats to Kristin. Keep the tuning up, best of luck in the following contest, and write more songs.

Cheers,
Ballard
