The first official Genius Squad was Friday night and was a great success. Part trivia night, part variety show, part talk show it came off with minimal hitches and a FULL crowd packed into Jimmy’s No. 43. Dave facilitated nicely, and our official “Genius Squad” for the first night turned out to include (and I’m not kidding) a scientist in a lab coat, a guy in a giant squid costume, and comedian Mike Price. We invited all of these people, including those in costume, just to keep the vibe going in the room. And it turned out they were legitimately smart. Whodathunkit?

I’ll announce the next Genius Squad event as it gets scheduled. There’s a good chance Dave Burdick will be hosting another one after crossing the threshold of May graduation at Columbia University. Let’s all wish him a congraduations. In the meantime, you’ll have to wait for the next Genius Squad to hear the “Official Genius Squad Theme Song” written for the ukulele by me…or I’ll just record it and put it up in the next week.
