About to jump into three days of rehearsal and shooting for Uncle Earl’s new music video “Streak O’ Lean, Streak O’ Fat”, directed by Tom Krueger. Tom is a phenomenal director and veteran of this, having directed over 100 music videos for artists including U2, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan. He’s also the director of the upcoming “U2-3D”, IMAX film, the first full-length 3D IMAX concert film in history. No small change, here.
I’m on set directing the “making of”, as well as wearing a grip/electric hat, considering the scaled down production of the video. Everyone has donated their time for free, coming in from all over the U.S. to work on the video, including two entire teams of professional clog dancers for a hoe-down fiddle song, with lyrics in Mandarin Chinese, set in a Chinese restaurant and parodying the Kung-Fu movies of the 70’s. It should prove to be hilarious and unlike anything you’ve seen for the world of old-timey bluegrass.
